SWEET and TANGY HOT DOG SAUCE ~ Briar Creek Style

Ingredients:

  • 1 ~ 16 oz. bottle of Mountain Mama's Grateful Sauces Gourmet Hot Dog Chili Sauce

  • 2.25 lbs. lean ground chuck

  • 3 bunches of scallions

  • 1 orange bell pepper

  • 1 yellow bell pepper

  • 1 red bell pepper

  • Your favorite hot sauce

  • Your favorite hot dogs

  • Hot dog buns

Directions:

  1. Place the ground chuck in a medium-sized skillet.

  2. Thinly dice the white ends of the scallions. Add the scallions to the ground chuck.

  3. Gently brown the ground chuck and scallion mixture until cooked through, making sure to stir the mixture frequently.

  4. While the ground chuck is cooking, clean the bell peppers.

  5. Dice ½ of each bell pepper and add to the ground chuck / scallion mixture once it is cooked through.

Note: Slice the remaining bell pepper to eat either while cooking the sauce or save it for the meal.

  6. Let the mixture cook for another 5 minutes or so until the bell peppers are crisp tender.

  7. Drain the grease by putting the meat mixture in a strainer. Let it sit [in the sink].

  8. Brown each side of the hot dogs in the skillet.

  9. Add the ground chuck mixture - leave the hot dogs in the pan.

  10. Pour the entire bottle of Gourmet Hot Dog Chili Sauce over the mixture and hotdog. Mix well.

  11. Let the sauce simmer on low for about 15 minutes.

  12. The sauce is going to be extra sweet because of the bell peppers (I like it this way). Add your favorite hot sauce to taste.

  13. Put the hot dog in a hot dog bun (if desired) and top with the Sweet and Tangy Hot Dog Sauce - Briar Creek Style.

  14. Catch the Crave and Enjoy!!

Side note: You can also leave out the hot dog to make a fabulous sloppy joe!
